“What I’ll miss most about living with my sister is definitely her closet.”
- a snippet from the speech I made at my sister's wedding (Summer '15)
My intention was simply to draw a few laughs from the crowd, but it honestly proved itself to be a very truthful statement. Growing up with a sister who is relatively close in age and size, it was always exciting to steal an outfit from her wardrobe (with or without her permission).
It was like having a second closet with new pieces for me to try on and experiment with – guilt-free. After she moved out, I was left with just my own closet full of same-old-boring clothes and nothing to wear. As a woman, there’s something really liberating in being able to take chances and get creative with our styles without having the responsibility and cost of ownership. On the other hand, we all have so many things that sit wastefully in our closets that others would love!

What started out as selfishly wanting a larger closet made me realize that this can be a solution for many women who dream of having the "perfect wardrobe" - beautiful clothes and endless styles that they didn't have to buy. My desire to facilitate wardrobe sharing between the sisters of our community is what sparked the initial idea behind FreshRents.
I look like a little boy here, but I was so excited to match with my big sis.
